Multi-Gas Incubators

Multi-gas incubators use a combination of CO2 and nitrogen gases to simulate in vivo conditions. PHCbi (formerly Panasonic) uses a solid zirconia O2 sensor to control the oxygen levels within the incubator. All models have built-in contamination control features with additional options, which can give your lab an extra level of security.

Multi-gas Incubator Considerations

  • CO2 and O2 control: PHCbi incubators are equipped with dual infrared CO2 and solid-state Zirconia O2 sensors. These sensors enable continuous CO2 calibration and an accurate O2 control range of 1% to 18% and 22% to 80% without periodic calibration.
  • Contamination control: Each of our PHCbi incubators comes with built-in contamination safeguards. All units feature inCu-saFe® interiors that combine the germicidal properties of copper with the corrosion resistance of stainless steel. Additional features include contaminant-destroying UV lights and hydrogen peroxide vapor decontamination options.
  • Event management: Stay notified about deviations from presets and other events with power failure, temperature and gas deviation, supply empty and door open alarms.
  • Gas consumption: Multi-gas incubators go through their supply of nitrogen much more quickly than their CO2 supply. PHCbi incubators come standard with a nitrogen switchover system to provide efficient distribution.
  • Placement and location: To ensure proper ventilation and access to cords and sockets, it’s crucial to choose a location with sufficient surrounding space (at least three inches). The chosen area should also be away from drafts and out of direct sunlight.
  • Size: At D.A.I., the multi-gas incubators we offer are capable of fitting comfortably on a tabletop. With PHCbi MCO-50M models measuring at 1.7 cubic feet and MCO-170MP models measuring at 5.7 cubic feet.
  • Temperature: All of our multi-gas incubator units are equipped with a direct heat and air jacket system that helps maintain accurate temperature levels, ranging from +5°C above ambient to +50°C.
