Vaccine Freezers [CDC & VFC Compliant]

Our vaccine freezers are compliant with the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) and the Vaccines for Children (VFC) program. They are specifically designed for any type of vaccine that requires freezer storage, including: COVID-19, MMRV, Chicken pox, Shingles, and Rotavirus

The majority of our upright and undercounter vaccine freezers have a temperature control range of -15°C to -25°C with a few units offering a range of -18°C to -40°C. Most of our ultra-low vaccine freezers have a temperature control range of -50°C to -86°C.

Options also include auto and manual defrost.

Vaccine Storage Recommendations

All freezers from D.A.I. Scientific meet CDC and VFC requirements for proper and safe vaccine storage. According to the CDC, proper vaccine freezer storage and temperature monitoring best practices and guidelines include:

  • Leaving 2-3 inches between wall containers and freezer walls
  • Ensuring the freezer door closes properly
  • Avoiding the use of a combo refrigerator/freezer or models that have a single compressor
  • Storing vaccines at an ideal temperature of -20°C
  • Checking and recording the minimum and maximum temperatures at the start of the day

Testimonials
In 2019, we purchased two Baker STERILGARD biosafety cabinets (BSCs) through DAI. This model BSC offered numerous desired features at a very reasonable price. Our local sales representative through DAI was extremely helpful! He provided a wealth of information regarding the BSCs, as well as documentation we required to process the purchase. Dan was key in arranging for inside delivery directly to our labs through a company that had extensive experience with setup and delivery of Baker BSCs. The delivery and setup of these large pieces of equipment could not have gone more smoothly. Dan was also on-site for the delivery and provided a thorough tutorial on the use of the new BSCs at that time.

The EliTech Aerospray Stainer was a breeze to set up and optimize to our specific needs. It’s very nice to have consistency between slides and technologists. We went live over two years ago and have had zero problems. The quality of the instrument and the stain is far superior to others we’ve used in the past.
Erie VA Medical Center
Our company has grown significantly over the last ten years. One thing I know I can always count on is DAI and their rep, Brian Langenderfer, doing their part to keep us informed of specials on instrumentation, get us great pricing on quality inventory, and rapid response times on all communications, including quotes. Not only that, but they coordinate quality movers to come onsite upon delivery and help unpack, move, and set up equipment professionally.  What I also appreciate as a lab manager is having the DAI employees, like Brian, to support all installations, upkeep, and is available for general questions. As our one lab has now grown to four, I always make sure my lab operation peers use DAI as their first “go to” for equipment purchases. We are always impressed and never disappointed with our DAI experiences.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use a combination refrigerator/freezer?
The only combination units that are allowed are models that have two compressors — one for the refrigerator and one for the freezer. Single compressor combination units are not allowed because they do not offer the strict temperature uniformity that is required.
Can I use an auto-defrost freezer?
An auto-defrost freezer goes through a defrost cycle, which warms up the inside of the unit beyond the required temperature for the vaccine.
Can I run my data logger cord through the door gasket?
That is not recommended because the cord will cause an air gap along the door gasket. This gap will allow air into the unit, causing frost issues and warming the inside. All of our units have an access port through which you can run your data logger probe. This provides a tight seal.
