St. Louis, Missouri- Recently two research labs at Washington University purchased IncuCyte Cell Imagers, which have the capability of being placed into a CO2 incubator to do live cell analysis. Both labs looked at different brands of incubators, and both ultimately chose PHCBi (Panasonic) incubators. Two of the key factors for this decision were the stability and size of the incubators. The deciding factor was the ease of decontaminating the interior of the incubator and also the Incucyte components inside the chamber. Panasonic is able to achieve this due to their hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) decontamination cycle, which only takes three hours to run (compared to 12-24 hours required for heated decontamination). High heat requires the IncuCyte components to be removed from the incubator. With the H2O2 cycle, you avoid that step completely and have a much quicker and effective decon.
